Run ads that link straight to one menu item

The story

SituationYour new Mango Kerabu salad is the star of this week's Instagram ad. The photo is ready, the budget is set, and the ad goes live on Monday morning.

ChallengeIf the ad sends people to your homepage, they have to hunt for the salad among dozens of items. Some give up before they find it, and you pay for every one of those clicks.

MissionSend every click straight to the Mango Kerabu, one tap away from ordering, and know which ad brought each order in.

This guide shows you how to copy an item's direct product link from Web Admin in a few seconds and use it in any ad, post or message.

Quick answer

In Web Admin, go to Menu > All Items, find the item, and click Copy link on its row (or open the item and click Copy link at the top right). Paste the link into your ad's website URL field.

What is a direct product link?

A direct product link is a unique URL that leads customers straight to a specific product page, bypassing your homepage or catalogue. It's a focused, no-friction entry point to drive attention directly to what you're promoting.

Example:

https://order.purplemonkey.com.my/menu/static/5upA8k25YgYmLwfkn/mango-kerabu

Every direct product link has the same shape: your ordering site's address, then /menu/static/, then the item's ID, then the item's name in lower case with spaces turned into hyphens.

The page it opens shows the item's photo, name, description and price, with an Order now button that takes the customer into your ordering site with that item ready to add.

Tapping Order now opens your full menu with that item already open, so the customer only has to tap Start order.

When you paste the link into Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, the preview shows a picture of the item with its name, price and your logo, so the link itself looks like an ad.

Why direct product links matter in ads

When you're investing in digital advertising, on platforms like Facebook, Instagram or Google, you want every click to count. Sending users to a generic landing page adds friction, confusion and drop-off risk.

Here's why direct links outperform general ones:

  • Higher Conversion Rates: Users land exactly on the item you're advertising.

  • Faster Checkout Flow: No extra browsing required.

  • Improved Campaign Tracking: You'll know exactly which product and ad drove the sale.

  • Better ROI on Ad Spend: Every click is hyper-targeted.

  • Stronger Retargeting Signals: You can segment visitors by interest (e.g., viewed X product but didn't buy).

Note

Retargeting by product interest needs a Facebook Pixel on your ordering site. See Set up a Facebook Pixel to retarget visitors to your ordering site.

Before you start

  • You can sign in to Web Admin. Brand admins and store-level accounts can both copy item links.

  • The item already exists on your menu. If it is new, see Add a new item to your online menu first.

  • The item is available at the branches your ad is aimed at, so customers who click can actually order it.

Setup guide: creating a direct product link

Follow these steps to generate a direct product link from your web admin dashboard:

Step 1: Log in as Web Admin

Access your store’s admin panel.

Step 2: Go to the menu management page

From the main navigation:

  • Click Menu > All Items

Note

Earlier versions of Web Admin called this page Menu > All Menu. It is now All Items, in the same place under Menu.

Step 3: Locate the product

Use the search bar or browse manually to find the product or item you want to promote.

Step 4: Copy the product link

There are two ways to copy the link. Both copy the same URL.

  • From the item's page: click into the product detail page. On the top right, click the "Copy Link" button. This will automatically copy the direct URL to your clipboard, and you will see Menu link copied.

  • From the list: on the item's row in All Items, click Copy link. You will see Link copied. This is the quickest route, and the only one if your account can view items but not edit them.

Before you use it, paste the link into your browser once to check that it opens the right item.

Step 5: Use the link in your marketing campaign

Paste the link into your:

  • Facebook or Instagram Ad (in the website URL field)

  • Facebook post or story (with a "Shop Now" CTA or link sticker)

  • WhatsApp blast or email campaign

Marketing tip

Pro Tip: Want better insights? Add UTM tracking tags to your URL using Google's Campaign URL Builder to track campaign performance. The tags stay on the link when the customer taps Order now, so they reach your ordering site as well as the product page. Use a different campaign name for each ad, and you can compare them side by side.

That is it. Monday's ad now lands every click on the Mango Kerabu, one tap from the cart.

If something goes wrong

  • The link opens your homepage instead of the item: the item is no longer on your menu (for example, it was deleted), so the link falls back to your homepage. Check the item in Menu > All Items, then copy a fresh link.

  • You renamed the item and the old link still shows the old name: the part of the link that matters is the item's ID, so links you already shared keep working after a rename. Copy the link again if you want the new name in the URL.

  • Customers say they cannot order the item: check that it is available at their branch and at that time of day. See Category Availability and Managing Item Availability & Stock Limits.

  • Nothing is copied when you click Copy link: some browsers block the clipboard on insecure or embedded pages. Open Web Admin in a normal browser tab and try again.

Final thought

Direct product links aren't just technical shortcuts; they're conversion tools. They eliminate unnecessary steps, keep user attention focused, and let your ads do what they're supposed to: convert intent into action.

Mission accomplished: what you have achieved

  • Every click lands on the item. Customers see the Mango Kerabu first, not your homepage.
  • A link that previews well. Shared links show the item's picture, name and price.
  • Campaigns you can compare. UTM tags follow the customer through to your ordering site.

Next time an item deserves the spotlight, its link is two clicks away.
