The story
SituationOn Monday a customer browses your Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng, adds it to the cart, and closes the tab. Across your menu, the same thing happens dozens of times a week.
ChallengeMaking a separate ad for every dish is impossible, and uploading your menu to Meta by hand means it is out of date the moment you change a price or add a new item.
MissionConnect your menu to Meta once, so Facebook and Instagram can show each visitor the exact dishes they looked at, with prices and photos that keep themselves up to date.
This guide gets you there by pointing a Meta Commerce Catalogue at the product feed your Eats Venture ordering site already publishes. There is nothing to install and nothing to upload by hand.
Quick answer
Your menu feed is at your ordering site's address followed by /commerce_atom_rss.xml, for example https://order.your-website.com/commerce_atom_rss.xml. In Meta Commerce Manager, open your catalogue, go to "Data Sources", click "Add Products", choose "Use Data Feeds" and then Scheduled Feed, paste the feed URL and set the schedule to weekly.
What is a Facebook Commerce Catalogue?
A Facebook Commerce Catalog is a structured product data feed that allows Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to understand your menu or inventory: what you're selling, pricing, availability, images, descriptions, etc.
Once this catalog is connected to Facebook Ads, it enables dynamic remarketing, where Meta can automatically show relevant products to users based on their browsing and buying behaviour.
Setting up a Facebook (Meta) Commerce Catalogue is not only a technical step; it's a strategic move to unlock high-converting remarketing campaigns that are personalised, automated, and scalable.
Here’s a breakdown of the value and importance:
Why setting up a catalogue matters for remarketing using EatsVenture.asia
1. Dynamic Product Remarketing (DPA)
Facebook can show a carousel of the exact dishes a customer browsed or abandoned in cart, increasing conversion chances.
Example: A user viewed "Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng" on Monday, then gets a reminder ad with the same item on Tuesday, along with a promo code.
2. Always up-to-date ads with no manual effort
The catalog is auto-synced via ATOM/RSS from the EatsVenture platform
Merchants don’t need to manually upload new items, prices, or promotions.
Set it once, and it auto-updates weekly, ensuring accuracy in ads.
3. Personalised experience across channels
Facebook and Instagram can match products viewed on the EatsVenture site with user profiles and serve them across devices and platforms.
This retargeting works on Facebook Feed, Stories, Instagram Reels, Messenger, and more.
4. Higher ad performance, lower CPA
Dynamic ads using catalog usually outperform generic image ads:
Better CTR (click-through rate)
Lower CPA (cost per acquisition)
Higher ROAS (return on ad spend)
5. First-party data leverage
With Meta pixel or Conversion API on the EatsVenture site, merchants can track add-to-cart, checkout, and purchase events.
Combined with catalog sync, this allows precision-level audience segmentation for:
Upselling (people who bought X)
Cross-selling (people who viewed Y)
Win-back (people who haven’t ordered in X days)
Note
On Eats Venture ordering sites this tracking comes from the Meta Pixel, which the Eats Venture team installs for you. A Conversions API connection is not part of the standard setup. See Set up a Facebook Pixel to retarget visitors to your ordering site.
Marketing tip
Each item in your feed is identified by the same item ID that the Pixel reports when a customer opens that item. That shared ID is what lets Meta match "viewed the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng" to the right product in your catalogue, so set up the Pixel and the catalogue together.
Setup guide
This guide walks you through how to set up your Meta (Facebook) Commerce Catalog to automatically sync product data from your existing ATOM/RSS feed (e.g., if your order site is https://order.your-website.com/ then your RSS Feed URL would be https://order.your-website.com/commerce_atom_rss.xml).
We recommend setting the update frequency to weekly.
What your feed contains
Your ordering site builds the feed from your live menu each time Meta fetches it. For every active item on your menu it lists:
ID: the item's ID on Eats Venture.
Title: the item name.
Description: the item description. If an item has none, the feed uses the item name followed by "by" and your brand name.
Link: the item's direct product link, the same one Copy link gives you in Web Admin.
Image: a picture made from the item's first photo with your logo. Extra photos of the item are added as additional images.
Price: the item's selling price in MYR.
Brand: your brand name. Condition is always New.
Caution
The feed lists every item as in stock, and it covers your brand's whole menu rather than one branch. An item that is sold out today, or only sold at some branches, can still appear in a dynamic ad. Keep that in mind when you run catalogue ads for limited items, and exclude them in Meta if needed.
Prerequisites
A Facebook Business account
Admin access to Facebook Business Manager
An existing product feed in RSS or ATOM format (must be properly formatted). Your Eats Venture ordering site already publishes one, so you do not need to build it.
Your feed URL (e.g.,
https://<order.your-website.com>/commerce_atom_rss.xml)
To check your feed URL before you start, open it in your browser. You should see a page of text listing your menu items. If it does not load, check the address of your ordering site with Eats Venture support.
Steps to set up the feed in Facebook Business Manager
The steps below describe Meta's own screens. Meta changes them from time to time, so if a button has moved, look for the same option nearby.
Step 1: Log in to Business Manager
Make sure you’re in the correct Business Account that owns the catalog.
Step 2: Go to Commerce Manager
From the left-hand menu, click "Commerce" (you may find it under "More Tools").
Select your Shop or create a new one if needed.
Under Catalogs, choose your existing catalog or create a new one.
Step 3: Add product data source
Inside the Catalog Manager, go to "Data Sources", then "Product Data Sources"
Click the "Add Products" button on the top-right.
Select "Use Data Feeds", then click "Next"
Step 4: Set up the feed schedule
Choose Scheduled Feed and click Next
Enter your feed URL
Example:https://<order.your-website.com>/commerce_atom_rss.xmlSet the update schedule:
Frequency:
WeeklyDay: Choose the day of the week (e.g., Monday)
Time: Choose a time when your server load is low (e.g., 3:00 AM)
Skip login credentials field. Your feed is public, so Meta does not need a username or password to read it.
Click Next
Ops tip
Pick a fetch day after your usual menu changes. If you update prices or add the week's specials on Sunday, a Monday 3:00 AM fetch carries them into your ads before the week starts.
Step 5: Name your feed and confirm
Give your feed a name (e.g., "Weekly EatsVenture ATOM Feed Sync")
Choose default currency and country settings if prompted. Your feed prices are in MYR, so choose Malaysian Ringgit and Malaysia.
Review the summary and click "Upload" to test the feed
Once the test passes, click Save Feed and Finish
That is it. Your whole menu is now in Meta, and it refreshes itself every week.
Notes and tips
Monitor the Upload Logs to ensure there are no feed errors after the first sync.
You can always go back to the Data Sources tab to manually trigger an update or adjust the schedule.
Changed a price or added a new item and do not want to wait for the weekly fetch? Trigger a manual update from Data Sources: the feed always reflects your menu at the moment Meta reads it.
If something goes wrong
The feed URL does not load in your browser: check that you used your ordering site's own address, then /commerce_atom_rss.xml, with no extra characters at the end.
An item is missing from the catalogue: the feed only lists items that are active on your menu. Check the item in Menu > All Items, then trigger a manual update.
An item has an odd description in Meta: the item has no description on your menu, so the feed used its name and your brand name instead. Add a description in Web Admin; see How do I edit a menu item?
Upload Logs show errors: note the message Meta shows and send it, with your feed URL, to Eats Venture support in your Telegram Support Group or at support@eatsventure.asia.
Confirmation
Once set up, Facebook will automatically fetch your product data from the provided RSS feed every week based on the schedule. You can see imported products under the Items tab in your Commerce Manager.
Mission accomplished: what you have achieved
- Every dish ready to advertise. Your whole menu is in Meta without a single manual upload.
- Ads that keep up with you. New items and price changes reach Meta at the next weekly fetch.
- Reminders for the right dish. With the Pixel in place, Meta can show each visitor what they browsed.
Next time you add a seasonal special, it reaches your catalogue on its own.
