The story
SituationYour supplier has raised the price of the caramel you use for the Extra salted caramel sauce add-on on the Salted Caramel Chocolate Tart.
ChallengeThe add-on is on six different items, and one branch has run out of sauce until Monday.
MissionUpdate the price once for every item that uses it, and mark it sold out at that one branch, without touching the tart itself.
This guide shows you how to change an existing add-on: its name, price, description and where it is available. Because one add-on can be used by many items, one edit updates it everywhere.
Quick answer
Tap on the Menu option and select All Add-ons. Choose one add-on from the list, then tap the Edit button. Edit the add-on information and click Update to proceed.
Before you start
A brand admin can change every field. A store-level account sees the name, SKU, price and description greyed out, and can change the add-on's availability at the branches assigned to it.
Know which items use the add-on. On All Add-ons, the Item filter lists only the add-ons used by the item you pick.
Note
If your menu is managed by your POS system, menu editing is locked in Web Admin. The page opens as View Add-on, shows "This menu is synced from the POS", and has no Update button. Make the change on the POS instead. Ask your Eats Venture account manager if you are unsure.
Step 1: Open All Add-ons
a) Tap on (a) the Menu option in the admin portal sidebar and, under Add-ons, select (b) All Add-ons.
Step 2: Choose the add-on
b) Choose one add-on from the list, then tap the Edit button on its row. You can also click the add-on name.
The list shows each add-on's Name, Price (RM), Store availability & visibility (the branches where it is switched on) and Actions. Newest add-ons are at the top. With a long list, type in Search by add-on name or pick an item in the Item filter.
Step 3: Edit the add-on information
c) Edit the add-on information and click Update to proceed.
The form has the same fields as when the add-on was created:
Add-on item name: the hint reads "Example: soup of the day, salad and tea. Max length: 30 characters".
SKU (optional): up to 30 characters.
Price: the extra charge in RM. "For set item, add on option can be free. Certain items can be adjusted with small add-on fee."
Description.
Availability & visibility: a switch for each branch, and when it is on, Available, Sold out or Sold out before a date you pick. Setting for all branches sets every branch to Visible & Available, Visible & Sold out or Hidden when you click Apply for all branches.
Caution
The add-on's price and name are shared by every item that uses it. Changing the price here changes it on all of them. If one item needs a different price for the same extra, create a separate add-on for it.
Click Update. You see Add on updated!. Back to All Add-ons (shown as Back to menu add-on in older screenshots of this page) leaves without saving.
Ops tip
Out of an extra until a delivery arrives? Choose Sold out before and pick the delivery date instead of plain Sold out. The add-on comes back on its own at 12:00 AM that day, so nobody has to remember to switch it on.
You can also update an add-on's price from a menu item: in the item's Add-on Group section, click Update price next to the add-on. It changes the same shared price.
That is it. The new sauce price applies to all six items, and the branch that ran out shows it as sold out until Monday.
Delete an add-on
Brand admins see a Delete button at the bottom left. You are asked "Are you sure?" with "You won't be able to revert this!". Click Yes, delete it to confirm.
Caution
An add-on can only be deleted when no item uses it. Remove it from every add-on group first, from each item's edit page. To stop selling it for now, switch it off at your branches instead; deleting cannot be undone.
If something goes wrong
"Unable to delete" with "Please make sure to disassociate this add-on item from any existing menu before deleting": an item still uses this add-on. Remove it from that item's add-on groups, then delete.
"Price cannot be less than 0": enter 0.00 or more.
"You can not rename this post": the add-on does not belong to the brand you are signed in to.
"Menu is read-only (synced from POS)": your menu is managed by your POS. Make the change there.
The fields are greyed out: you are signed in with a store-level account. Ask a brand admin to change the name or price.
Mission accomplished: what you have achieved
- One price, everywhere. Every item that offers the extra now charges the new price.
- No orders you cannot fill. The branch without sauce shows it as sold out, and only there.
- Back on sale by itself. A Sold out before date brings it back without a reminder.
Next time a cost changes, it is one add-on and one Update.
