Close or open your online store for a day, a few hours or dates ahead

The story

SituationThe oven at your Jalan Ampang branch breaks down at 11am on a Tuesday. The technician says it will be fixed by 3pm.

ChallengeYour online store is still taking pick-up and delivery orders for lunch, and next month the branch closes for a private event. Customers who order now will turn up to food you cannot make.

MissionStop online orders for exactly the hours or days you cannot serve, and open again the moment you can.

This guide shows the three ways to close your online store in Web Admin: for the whole of today, for a few hours, or on dates scheduled ahead.

Quick answer

Go to Settings > All Stores. Use the switch next to a branch to close it for today, or click Off days to close a whole day or chosen time slots in the coming week, or to schedule dates further ahead.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to Web Admin with access to the branch.

  • Closing a day or a time slot stops new online orders for it. Orders customers have already placed for that time are not cancelled.

  • Delivery and self pick-up are switched off separately on the Off days page, so decide which one you need to stop.

Open the store settings

a) Tap on (a) the 'Settings' option in the sidebar and select (b) 'All Stores'.

Note

In earlier versions of Web Admin, All Stores sat under a heading called Store Off Days. The heading is now Stores, as in the screenshot above; the link is the same.

The All Stores page lists your branches. Next to each one is a switch labelled Open, and a link to its off days.

Close a branch for the rest of today

Turn off the switch next to the branch. Its label changes to Store closed for today and you will see Branch status updated. This closes all of today's time slots for both delivery and self pick-up. Turn it back on to reopen.

Close a whole day or a few hours in the coming week

b) Tap on 'Advanced settings' next to the branch. This link is now labelled Off days, and opens the Store Advanced Settings page for that branch.

The page starts with an Important information box:

  • Please proceed if you need to turn off the store temporarily (up to 7 days ahead) due to being out of stock (with plans to restock), a power outage, etc.

  • Please contact our Support team if you need to stop taking pre-orders in the future due to being out of stock (with no plans to restock), taking a break, the holiday season, or any other reason.

If only one item is out of stock, you do not need to close the store: mark items and add-ons sold out in the EatsVenture Cashier app instead.

Use Switch branch at the top to move to another branch without going back to the list. Below are Delivery for the Upcoming Week and Self Pick-up for the Upcoming Week, one card per day for the next 7 days, starting today. You only see the sections for the services the branch offers.

Close the whole day

c) Click the switch on a day to open or close the store for the entire day. It reads Open when on and Closed when off, and you will see Branch status updated.

Close for a few hours

d) If you wish to pause store operations for a few hours, tap on 'Choose time slots' on that day. The link only shows while the day is open.

e) Select a time slot below to temporarily close the store for a few hours. Each slot, for example 13:00 - 14:00, has its own switch: turn it off to close that slot, on to reopen it. You will see Time slot status updated. Slots that have already passed today are greyed out.

Ops tip

Short of staff or swamped at the counter? Close only the next one or two slots instead of the whole day. Customers can still order for later in the day, and the kitchen gets breathing room.

Back to the oven: two lunch slots closed, the rest of the day still selling.

Schedule dates further ahead

f) If you would like to schedule dates to switch off delivery, click the Schedule ahead to switch off store for delivery button below the week's cards. Self pick-up has its own button, Schedule ahead to switch off store for self pick-up, below its section.

g) Choose the date, the time slots, and tap 'Confirm & save' to proceed.

  • Order type shows which service you are switching off, for example Delivery.

  • Choose date: a single date or a range. The earliest date you can pick is 7 days from today; use the week's cards above for anything sooner.

  • Choose time slots: Whole day is on by default. Turn off the slots you want to keep open, or leave everything on to close the whole day.

You will see Branch settings updated.

To close both delivery and self pick-up for whole days in one go, use Schedule ahead to switch off store at the top of the page. It has no time slot choice and closes the full day for both services.

Saved dates appear under Scheduled Dates to Switch Off Delivery or Scheduled Dates to Switch Off Self Pick-up. Click Show time slots on a date to see the Time slots closed, and Cancel & delete to reopen it. When nothing is scheduled, the list reads No scheduled off date currently.

Caution

Closing a day does not cancel orders that customers have already placed for it. Check Orders > Current & Upcoming for that date and contact those customers, or move their orders with Change an order's date or time slot.

Marketing tip

Closing for a public holiday or a private event? Schedule it as soon as you know, then add a homepage banner telling customers when you reopen, so they plan their order instead of finding the slots gone.

If something goes wrong

  • The switch next to a branch is greyed out and reads Closed: the branch is disabled and shows a Disabled badge. Contact the Eats Venture support team.

  • You cannot pick a date in the schedule pop-up: dates within the next 7 days are set on the week's cards instead, not in the pop-up.

  • There is no Choose time slots link on a day: the day is closed. Turn the day's switch on first.

  • You need to stop pre-orders for longer, for example a holiday break: contact the Eats Venture support team, as the Important information box says.

Mission accomplished: what you have achieved

  • No orders you cannot fulfil. Customers only see slots the branch can actually serve.
  • Hours, not days, lost. A short problem closes a slot or two, not the whole day.
  • Closures planned ahead. Events and holidays are in the system before customers try to order.

The next time the oven or the rota lets you down, you can close and reopen in a few taps.
